Two-coat spray seal for rural and semi-rural properties across CANBErra, qprc and surrounds.
Long gravel driveways wash out, rut and throw dust at every car that comes up them. We seal rural driveways using our local crews and our own machinery.
Built for rural propertieS
A rural driveway works harder than a suburban one. It's longer, it carries trucks and trailers, and it has to cope with heavy rain and dry summers.
We seal driveways for:
Long gravel driveways that need topping up after every heavy rain.
Dusty, potholed driveways that are hard on cars and harder to keep clean.
New rural builds ready for a sealed driveway once the heavy machinery has gone.
Council conditions. If council needs your entrance sealed before final approval, we handle the seal, the traffic management plan and traffic control on the day.
Two-coat spray seal, explained
Spray seal, also called bitumen seal or chip seal, is a layer of hot bitumen sprayed over a compacted base, then covered with stone and rolled in. A two-coat seal repeats the process with a second, smaller stone. The second coat locks the first in place, giving a tighter, longer-lasting surface than a single coat.
How we do it:
-
We excavate where needed, fix drainage and shape the driveway so water runs off rather than sitting on it.
-
We supply and install a compacted road base to suit the traffic it will carry.
-
Bitumen is sprayed and covered with a larger stone, then rolled over and compacted.
-
A second spray and a smaller stone, rolled over to lock the surface together.
-
Loose stone is swept and the site is left tidy for you.
Need your entrance sealed for council approval?
Many councils require a rural entrance to be sealed before they'll sign off on a new build or development.
Because the work sits in the road reserve, it usually needs council approval (in NSW, a Section 138 approval) and a traffic management plan.
We build to council standard, prepare the traffic management plan, and handle on-the-day traffic management, so you deal with one contractor from start to finish.

FAQs
How long does a spray seal driveway last?
1
With a well-prepared base and good drainage, a two-coat spray seal typically lasts 10 years before it needs a reseal. Drainage makes the biggest difference, which is why we spend time getting the site prep right.
Can you seal over my existing gravel?
2
Often, yes, if the gravel is sound and well compacted. We check this when reviewing your uploaded photos. Where the gravel is thin, potholed or poorly drained, we rebuild the base first so the seal lasts.
Should I choose spray seal or millings?
3
Spray seal is the lowest-cost option and suits long driveways best. Millings give a firmer, darker finish at a mid-range price.
Do I need council approval to seal my entrance?
4
Work between the road edge and your boundary is in the road reserve, which usually needs council approval and a traffic management plan.
Do you service my area?
5
We work across the ACT, QPRC and Yass Valley region, including Bungendore, Braidwood, Googong, Wamboin, Burra, Murrumbateman, Yass, Sutton, Bywong and Royalla . If you're not sure, send us your address and we'll let you know.
